PRJ12 Family

The PRJ12 printing peripheral has been designed to cover all the requirements of check handling and validation directly at the counter station. In its fullest configuration the printer is able, in one pass, to carry out all of the following activities:

  • Read the MICR code line (CMC7 or E13B)
  • Validate the check on a single line or on multiple lines (including precise printing in predetermined positions of the check)
  • Scan both sides of the check to obtain a clear image for electronic processing
  • Print a receipt of the transaction on a paper roll

The PRJ12 is extremely innovative as it uses inkjet technology for printing, thus obtaining very quick, quiet and quality printing, whilst keeping the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) down to that of a normal dot matrix printer of the same category. This has been done through a proprietary technology (Olivetti Tecnost is, in fact, one of the few companies worldwide who has total in-house ownership of inkjet technology) consisting of a ½” printhead and a special garage for ink refills. The printhead allows the peripheral to print 4 lines in one pass whilst the external garage for ink refills gives each printhead the capacity to print up to 3 million characters.

Finally the PRJ12 has been designed in such a way that the scanning unit for check image acquisition can be added in field. This allows banks to start with MICR reading, check validation and receipt printing then, when the software application is ready to roll out, add the scanner to each installed PRJ12.
